Temperate Forest World Map

Otherwise known as atlantic woodland, temperate rainforest is found in areas subject to the influence of the sea (places with 'high oceanicity'). They occur in two broad belts, the more northerly boreal forest belt occupying areas within about 1000 km of. Click on the photo for a larger image.

Adequate rainfall is also frequent to sustain the forest growth. Covering an area less than half the size of the north american pacific coast rainforests, the largest expanse is the valdivian rainforest, the norrthernmost (37°45′ s─43°.
